A comprehensive plan for transformational growth — spiritual, numerical, moral, emotional, and financial.
The title of our strategic plan comes from 1 Samuel 13:14 — God's description of David as "a man after His own heart." It is the standard we are pursuing not just organizationally, but personally and corporately.
We believe that numerical growth without spiritual formation is just crowding. Financial growth without integrity is corruption. Cultural change without genuine transformation is performance. Everything in this plan begins and ends with the question: Are we becoming a people whose hearts truly belong to God?
"The Lord has sought out a man after his own heart and appointed him ruler of his people."
— 1 Samuel 13:14Our strategic plan addresses transformation across six essential dimensions. Together, they form a complete picture of a healthy, growing, God-honoring congregation.
Building a culture of prayer, expository preaching, and authentic worship. Developing a corporate fasting calendar, structured intercessory prayer teams, and a 5-year preaching calendar through key biblical books.
Intentional evangelism through personal witness training, door-to-door community outreach, digital presence on Facebook, and a structured visitor integration pipeline.
Expanding Sunday School into a full Christian Education pathway, launching a 6-week New Members Foundations Class, deepening mid-week Bible study, and implementing mentoring pairs and apologetics curriculum.
Addressing the church's culture head-on through an Excellence Culture Initiative — leaders modeling discipline first, a membership covenant, Matthew 18 conflict protocols, and a deliberate reputation repair strategy in Springfield.
Whole-person care through deacon visitation assignments, mental health sermon series, elder care ministry for our 65+ members, quarterly congregation fellowship dinners, and counseling referral partnerships.
Moving from an offering culture to covenant giving through stewardship education, annual tithing campaigns, full budget transparency, a building reserve fund, and revenue diversification.
Growth is sequential, not simultaneous. Each year builds on the last — we are not trying to do everything at once. The first year is the most critical: it is an internal year of foundation-setting before external expansion.
"Let all things be done decently and in order."
— 1 Corinthians 14:40Before the 5-year plan can take root, these immediate actions create momentum and signal that change is real.
Preach and present the 5-year vision to the congregation with full transparency about where we are and where God is calling us.
All four deacons formally sign the leadership covenant, establishing clear expectations and mutual accountability from the top.
Preach a 4-week series on biblical stewardship (Malachi 3, Luke 16, 2 Cor. 9) to lay the foundation for a covenant giving culture.
Organize a visible neighborhood service event — cleanup, food distribution, or back-to-school drive — to begin rebuilding the church's public reputation.
Every great movement of God is built person by person, family by family, Sunday by Sunday. Come be part of what God is doing at Second Timothy.
